Palestine : Crisis of Mind Before Land

January 4th, 2009
by Abu Saif

Once…

My Friday Khutbah in Belfast Islamic Centre, dated 5th of April 2002.

The sad thing is, this particular khutbah fits our current situation in Palestine, meaning that since 2002, nothing has changed. Babies are born in Palestine to become the victims and to be killed by the very same enemy. Enemy of morality and humanity, enemy of every single man and woman, be Muslim or not… the Zionists!

PALESTINE: CRISIS OF MIND BEFORE LAND

My dear Muslim congregation, may Allah bless us with His Mercy and Forgiveness,

The Palestinian Crisis is now leading to its most critical situation. All Muslims hold a responsibility to participate in giving their support to help their brothers and sisters defending Islam and their rights as it should be. Unfortunately, Muslims around the globe, while watching the cruelty of the Zionist regime slaughtering men and women, babies and elders, are facing some unexpected confusions in their own mind, which are diverting them from focusing to the right direction.

One of the main crisis is the belief among Muslims that Palestinian Issue is only for Arabs and even some Arabs might also believe that the issue is only for Palestinians. The sense of belonging to Palestine among Muslims throughout the history is reduced with tactics played by media. Media used to address the people who lived in the land of Palestine as Muslims, but then changed it to Arab, later as Palestinians. These organised tactics were meant to loose the Muslims’ connection with their Holy Land in Palestine.

While being reactive is bad enough for Muslims to optimize the way they react to the situation, now, Muslims are becoming more and more passive, melt under this so-call ‘I DONT CARISM’ attitude, if you know what I mean!

This claim comes only from the ignorance of the reality, blinded heart from understanding the history and lack of knowledge about all the verses of Al-Quran and Ahadeeth of Prophet Muhammad PBUH about the future of Islam in Palestine.

Allah the Exalted says,

“Glory be to Him who carried His servant by night from Al-Masjid Al-Haram to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa. The area of which We have blessed, that we might show him some of Our signs. He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.” (Al-Isra’ 17:1)

The scholars of Tafseer have a wide range of differences in their opinions regarding the intepretation of the term baarakna or the blessing of Allah upon the Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa and the surrounding land. Some say that the blessing is shown through the fertility of the Land where fruits like fig and olive are flourishing.

This is why Allah symbolized the Land of Palestine in Surah At-Tin as the “Fig and Olive”. Some others say that the blessing of Allah can be seen from the huge number of scholars who were born there or settled down in the Holy Land of Palestine.

My dear Muslim brothers and sisters,

These could be some of Allah’s barakah. His blessing is unlimited and boundless which covers everything that our mind could imagine. But if we study the history of Islam, we will realize another dimension of Allah’s blessing to the Holy Land. The centrality of Palestine is proofed through history.

When Muslims under the leadership of Umar AL-Khattab -radhiyallahu ‘anhu- liberated the land and brought it back to Islam and submission to Allah, Islam became so powerful and started to lead the surrounding area, defeating the Persian Empire and finally became the leading world power.

After Pope Urban II delivered his sermon in 1095AD when he incited the Christians to rescue the Holy Sepulcher from the hands of the Muslims, the Holy Land fell after a month of siege. They entered it in 1099AD and massacred its residents not sparing an infant or an elderly whereby the number killed went over seventy thousand, then they established a Latin kingdom. During this time Islam began to decline along with internal and external weaknesses.

But when Nuruddin Alzengy and latter Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi liberated Al-Aqsa, again Islam restored its power to lead the world with justice and confirmed the rights of all the minorities as being practised during the time of Umar Al-Khattab. Islam was again been seen as Rahmatan Lil ‘Aalameen.

The Ottoman liberated Al-Aqsa, Palestine and Bilad ash-Sham from the oppression of Memluk, responding to the letters which being sent by the people in Halab and Palestine asking for help. That day, the Ottoman was transformed from a Daulah, sharing the representative of Islam and Muslim with some other small states like the Memluk to become a Khilafah. The honour of Islam in Palestine was restored for the next 400 years until the collapse of Khilafah Othmaniyyah.

After World War I, Palestine started to face another era of challenge and test. Finally in 1948 the Zionist occupied the Holy Land and formed an illegal state known as Israel. Now the Zionist is taking their turn to become the world power, controlling every single inch of our day and night.

My dear respected Muslim congregations,

Our support to liberate Palestine is not just an issue of power. It is also not an issue of how the politicians should draw the map to accommodate their desires. Palestine is the land of Islam. The land of the Prophets that ironically many of them were even killed by their own people, the Children of Israel.

Allah (s.w.t.) states:

“And we decreed for the Children of Israel in the Scripture, that indeed you would do mischief on the earth twice and you will become tyrants and extremely arrogant! (17:4)

We should not worry about the future of Islam in Palestine. Study the Al-Quran and study the Books of Fitan from all the Masanid and Sihah of Hadeeth, then you will know that the glory of Islam in Palestine is a promise from Allah. Not even Muslims, but the Jews also know the fact. If you believe that the death is true, the heaven and hell are true, then you must also believe that the victory of Islam in Palestine is true. They are the part and parcel of our faith in Him.

What we should think and worry at the moment is about us. Ourselves! About our role, contribution and duty. If the only thing we can do now to help the Muslims in Palestine is to talk, then talk and don’t stop talking. Talk to every single person you meet and let them all know the truth.

Educate your wife, your children, your neighbours and friends about Palestine. By Allah who by His word I stand on this mimbar, if you stop talking and ignore the issue, this will be the biggest crime committed against Muslims in Palestine. The least you can do is to talk about this. If talking is abandoned and the duty is ignored what else our Muslim brothers and sisters can hope from you? People around you need to know the truth. The mass medias are hiding all the facts, which people need to know. The Palestinians who are defending their life with empty hands are labelled as terrorist whilst the army who destroy everything day and night are begging for sympathy!

All movements, which weaken our faith towards the victory of Islam in Palestine, must be terminated. Some of the Muslims who claim themselves as the people of knowledge are so keen to interpret all the verses of the Quran about jihad to a secondary meaning which create a boneless Islam! They wanted Muslims to see Jihad as an evil deed or at least out of the priority.

They promote Jihad An-Nafs (jihad against desire) as Jihad Al-Akbar while Jihad Al-Qital is considered as silver beside gold! The evidence used as proof for establishing that Jihad against the desires and Shaitan is Jihad Akbar, are weak if not false Hadeeth. Allahu Akbar, beware of all them!

“They want to extinguish Allah’s Light with their mouths, but Allah will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the Kafiroon hate it.” (32:9)

May Allah show us the right path and lead us to Janna. May Allah bestow His mercy upon us and our Muslim brothers and sisters in Palestine… and every single inch of land where Muslims are oppressed. May Allah unite our heart and mind toward the victory.

May Allah keep ourselves and our Muslim brothers and sisters in patience and Istiqamah. O Allah, You know what we want before we ask, but You command us to ask You simply because

You love to hear Your ‘ibaad asking You. In this very sad moment of calamity, we pronounce ourselves as Your slaves, begging You to help us and our fellow brothers and sisters in Palestine.
Help us O Allah!
